Construction Management – The Art of Delegation

The role of the project manager has a lot in common with a quarterback; you are usually in the shot gun. I have to complete the pass or run the ball, but taking a sack is not an alternative. Taking a sack would mean that I forgot to line up an extra electrical contractor in case my original guy flunks out, in this case I would have absolutely dropped the ball.
Numerous folks feel that I have the easiest job on the internet site, but if you take a closer look at the role of the Project Manager you will see that I hold the success of the project in the palm of my hands. Certain I may possibly get the occasional break in between potential catastrophes, but these brief moments of solitude hardly qualifies my career option as a laid back gig.
If you are considering a career as a project manager then there are a couple of skills you make require to sharpen just before hand.
Get your self organized – Practice obtaining your life organized now prior to you truly get the job as a project manager. As of right now you are the project manager of your life, for that reason whatever is out of order in your personal life will mirror itself in your professional assignments.
Master your craft – Invest the suitable time in order to understand a lot more about each department under your supervision. Delegation is a wonderful skill to master but you should at least know the basics skill set of every department under your command.
Say it loud! – The project manager is the master of communication and the direct link from the Project sponsor to the work crews. As I said earlier the project manager is the quarterback of the operation and like any successful quarterback you figure out who gets the ball and when they will obtain it. If you develop a habit of organization now then the transition to project manager will be effortless. Become the manager you often wanted to work for, and everyone will want to be on your winning team.
